History of
PS Olympic FC
by simon Johnson
p.s olympic founder and chairman

PS Olympic FC was formed in 2012 – the year of the London Olympics – by myself and my coaching partner, Darron Bishop. The “PS” stands for Premier Skills, our coaching methodology at the time, and the foundation on which the club was built.
The Early Years
In our very first season we launched four teams:
-
One U13s team coached by Darron Bishop
-
One U11s team coached by myself, Simon Johnson
-
One U8s team coached by Mark Bellingham - YES! Father of Jude and Jobe Bellingham
-
One U7s team
We played matches at Kinver schools – Foley, Brindley, and Edgecliff – with great pitches and a welcoming atmosphere. Our P.S Olympic Academy started at Thorns, which is how Ashley Foster first became involved in the club.

By our second season we had six teams, including two U10 teams. By season three, the Academy had grown us to eleven teams.
Around that time, I reconnected with the Business Manager at Crestwood School from my Kewford Eagles days. Crestwood wanted to bring a club onto their facility. I visited, saw the potential, shook hands – and PS Olympic had a new home.
Growth & Challenges
The club rapidly expanded to 19 teams – a move that almost broke us financially. We never set out to be the biggest club, just the best. But that rapid club growth meant some teams, including my U15s, had to play away from our home, Crestwood School. Since then though, we’ve stabilised to around 20 teams, which has proven to be the right balance.
Today we proudly run:

-
P.S Olympic Academy - Quality coaching for local 5-6 year olds, teaching teamwork and skills with a pathway into Teams
-
Grassroot Teams for u7s - u16s
-
An adult Saturday League Team
-
An adult Sunday League Team
-
A floodlit Youth Team
-
A Saturday U18s team (progressing to U21s from 2026/27)

This provides a complete pathway from youth to adult football – something we’re extremely proud of.

Our Values
PS Olympic is a CASC-registered, not-for-profit club, and our priorities remain the same as the day we started:
-
Coach Education – because if the coaches aren’t learning, the kids can’t develop.
-
Great Facilities – including all-year-round Astro training.
-
Branding & Identity – every player looks and feels part of the same club.
The Modern Club
In recent years, we’ve become much more modern as a club – improving our social media streams, launching a new website, and finding fresh ways to connect with our community online and offline.
Each year we celebrate with a club-wide outdoor Presentation Day, and our Summer 5-a-side Tournament has become a major local event, attracting around 160 teams on the last weekend in June.

From our beginnings with just a dream and a handful of teams, to becoming one of the region’s most respected grassroots clubs, PS Olympic FC has always stayed true to its mission: developing players, supporting coaches, and building a football community to be proud of.
